* Popsicle Playdates are a social meetup for families from all schools *

Join us at an upcoming Popsicle Playdate! We’ll have free popsicles and fun for children while parents have a chance to learn about advocating within the City to better fund schools. 

We’re a large group of parents, students, community members and teachers who came together in the Spring 2024 to demand that the City fund the schools adequately. 

Early in July, the City Council passed a budget that underfunded the schools by $2 million dollars. That means our already understaffed schools will now lose 20 teachers, paraprofessionals, and other staff and will see another 20 educators receive “forced transfers” which means that they are moved to a different position, often in a different school, without any choice in the transfer. (Data according to information available mid-July.)

Though we didn’t get the budget the schools need in this first round, our work continues – and even grows. We are actively working to build a community with budgets– and leadership – that reflect its values.
